Durham County Sunday Cup - Third Preliminary Round

RCA Florists progressed smoothly into the First Round of the DFA Sunday Cup with a comfortable 5-0 victory over Shotley Cricketers from the Consett Sunday League. RCA Florists were on the front foot from the start and had a couple of good chances before Martin Metcalfe gave them the lead with a 10th minute penalty. This was followed by three further first half goals, at regular intervals from Chris Trewick, Martin Metcalfe again and Gary Hills to give RCA Florists a 4-0 half time lead.

Martin Metcalfe had the chance to claim his hat trick immediately after the break, but Shotley's keeper saved well. RCA Florists continued to control the game and introduced subs Chapman, Harrison, Wharton, Curtis and Oliver for Hall, Hills, Metcalfe, Trewick and Kelly and Micky Wharton eventually converted one of numerous chances near the end to give a final score line of 5-0 to RCA Florists.
