RCA The Barnes retain top status

Submitted by Ian Ferguson on Wednesday, 4 May 2011

Following Sunday's 4 - 2 victory over Catholic Club FC, RCA The Barnes ensured their place in the Premier Division of the John G Hogg Sunderland Sunday League for the 2011/12 season.

Having started the season with a run of eight consecutive defeats at league level, and the upheaval of losing their management team and some players within three weeks of the season's start, the Club Officials would like to extend their thanks to Gary Errington, who took on the job of trying to ensure survival, ably assisted by long time playing members Philip Hall and Michael Curtis, who have worked tirelessly to achieve their aim for the season.

It is now hoped that the present group of loyal players and committee members can be retained for next season and with some astute additions to both the club can look forward to renewed success next season.

Also thanks are in order for the continued support of the mother club, Sunderland RCA, without whose help life would be a lot more difficult, especially Colin Wilson, Graham Defty, Owen Haley and Sgon.

The RCA Barnes would also like to congratulate the Northern League RCA team and Hicker and his management team on maintaining their First Division status in their first season back in with the 'big boys'.

So here's looking forward to more progress on both fronts for next season.
