Ernest Armstrong Cup

North Shield progressed to the Semi Finals of the Ernest Armstrong Cup with this comprehensive win against a below par RCA team. The result was rarely in doubt after "Shields" opened the scoring within the opening two minutes.

Sunderland Sunday Premier League

RCA The Barnes went down to only their second league defeat of the season to a strong and determined Paragon team by four goals to two.

RCA's squad was stretched to the limits with no fewer than nine squad members unavailable due to a variety of reasons, but mainly affecting the offensive side as they had no centre forwards available and the main threat from midfield - Martin Metcalfe was suspended - missing.

Sunderland RCA took all three points in a hard fought match against a very competitive, young Brandon United team who never stopped trying. In the end RCA proved too strong for Brandon who tired as the game entered the final 10 minutes and RCA took advantage to move five points clear at the top of the division.

Two of the top three met in a terrific end-to-end encounter which first swung in favour of the Marske United but then as the game progressed it was Sunderland RCA who came into the game and finished by far the stronger. The only disappointment for the fans was the fact that it ended goalless.

Saturday, 20 February 2010 Durham County Youth League After early pitch inspections, the game got the go ahead, albeit on an adjacent football pitch that was smaller than where the original would have been played. This turned out to be a very tight game that was only settled in the later stages.
