Presentation evening

Sunderland RCA held their 2006/07 season presentation evening on Saturday, 12 May.

Under 18s

This was the first season for the SRCA under 18’s, and the lads have had a very goodyear. Before the season had even started the boys had their first trophy under their belts with a great win in the Durham Football Association Pre Season tournament, played at the Chester le Street HQ of the FA. With one game still to play in the County under 18 League it looks like we will finish a very creditable fifth. Well done lads! And also well done and thanks to Andrew Harrison, who has managed the team in this first year, and given a great deal of his time and effort to the lads. Plans for next season are not finalised but we hope to have either an under 21 team or a junior adult team to offer lads the chance to progress before stepping up to to the Arngrove Northern League. The under 18s will run again, and our new partnership with Millfield St Joseph's will give us a link to teams from under 11 to under 16 in a well run and competitive club. This development is essential if we wish to push on as a Charter Standard Community Club.

Leading Goal scorer: Chris Curtis

Improved Player and Best Attitude: Martin Adams

Player of the Year and Players Player: Leon Symonds - collected on the night by skipper Rob Thompson.

First team

Leading Goal Scorer: John Butler
Butts's first season in the league and a very good return of 17 goals from 35 games. A great presence not only on the field but also in the dressing room. Signed from local football, John and has shown a great work ethic and commitment - big hopes next season will be even more profitable.

Players Player of the Year: Gary D Anderson
Gazza's a young defender who came in at the start of the season and has improved really well over the season. Started the campaign at right back and then revered to centre half. A solid season, Gary attacks the ball really well and hopefully will keep improving and become a quality Northern League player. Works hard in training, gives his all in games, a honest player who fully deserves the recognition from his fellow players. Gary played the most games for the club this season (42), underlining his desire and commitment.

Player of the Year: Marcel Lundy
Marce came in and provided great experience to the back line. A very quick and agile defender, all his Northern League experience shone through. A massive contribution in tightening up the defence and also showed good leadership qualities when skippering the side at the end of the season. A quality defender
we're delighted to have playing for us next season.

Special Award: Simon Andrews
Joined 1999. Appearances 267. 60 goals.
A player who has played in all positions for the club including a handful in goal. Highlights include being top scorer for the club seasons 2000/01 and 2001/02. The last couple of seasons Simon has generally played in defence, but again this season weighed in with seven goals making him third top scorer.
