View from the cemetery - October 2017 2

Submitted by Ghostly Gadgie on Tuesday, 17 October 2017

Nice bit of a turnaround in the last couple of games. Two good wins and back up the table a bit. Full squads available, or nearly, and it made a difference as it always does. Not that the performances when we were shorthanded were poor, not at all, I thought the commitment and effort were first class in each of the games where we struggled to field a sub or two. And at least we will get another bite at Morpeth, much to their annoyance. Anyway, back on track, seven wins out of thirteen league games played, despite the problems, blimey, could we end the season too far up this table? Will the committee be having nose bleeds all round? What with the FA promising, or is it threatening, full scale change and promotions galore, a lot of clubs must be considering their options as the season gets well into its stride. I guess our trip out to Liversedge for a midweek replay a few weeks back will have given people food for thought. And that’s just down the road, compared to Manchester, Merseyside and the fabled Colwyn Bay. Pleased its nowt to do with me your honour.

Meanwhile the most famous sportsman in the Northern League resigned up at Ashington and took all the back room staff with him. And the team promptly showed how much they were missing him by putting five past North Shields. Never a bad thing to see Shields getting beat, but players eh?

SRCA v SAFC Match Off

Submitted by Rob Jones on Friday, 29 July 2016

Due to internal restructuring at SAFC, Elliott Dickman has been left in a position where he feels he is unable to send a competitive squad to play the match arranged for next Wednesday, 3 August 2016.

He has asked for us to re-schedule the match for later in the season when he will be better placed to field a team strong enough to compete at our level.

We are looking at the possibility of playing a friendly sometime in October and will keep you informed.

Pre-Season starts Saturday

Submitted by Rob Jones on Wednesday, 13 July 2016

Sunderland RCA begin the new campaign on Saturday, 16 July,  with a pre-season friendly away to Richmond Town FC. Kick off 2.00pm

The address of the ground is Slee Hill, Richmond, DL10 4RH.

Would supporters note that SRCA have kept their admission prices at £5 for adults and £3 concessions for the coming season, for those wishing to purchase season tickets for the 2016-17 season these have also been kept at the same cost as last season namely £ 60 Adults and £45 concessions. To purchase season tickets see either Graham Defty or Colin Wilson.

We believe that these prices reflect real value for money and that they are the cheapest in the Northern League Division 1.

For the home friendly against Pickering Town FC on Saturday 30 July, kick off 3.00pm there will be a nominal charge of £2 admission.

For the home friendly with Sunderland AFC on Wednesday, 3 August, Kick off 7.00pm there will be a nominal charge of £4 Adults,  £2 concessions.

Thank you Michael

Submitted by Tim Robinson on Saturday, 7 May 2016

In the latter part of this season RCA fans have become used to seeing the tall figure of Michael Woud between the sticks during his loan spell from Sunderland AFC.

Michael has now made the long trip to Australia for the New Zealand men's national team camp, which will includes three friendlies against teams in Brisbane. After that it's the comparatively short hop home to New Zealand for a month's rest before flying back back for pre-season with SAFC.

Michael tells us that he has enjoyed the crack and highs and lows and has learned a lot from his time with RCA.

Good luck Michael and don't forget you're always welcome at Meadow Park.
