Injuries continue to blight the season with the latest to join the queue being Michael Charlton, there are currently ten players receiving treatment which meant that we were down to the bare bones with only 13 fit players and two registered coaches available for the match against Bishop Auckland.

After their historic win against Farsley Celtic in the FA Cup on Saturday the visitors also had injury problems the most notable was the absence of Andy Johnson from the 16.

Goalscorers: Esh: Hird. SRCA: Forster (2) Callen, Martin, J Butler.

Team selection for the League Cup match against Esh Winning fell to Assistant Manager Steven Stewart and he chose a blend of youth and experience whilst also pitching in some players who were returning from injury, he gave a debut to Jordan Cook while returning to the fold were Adam McGuinness and Brad Forster. There were welcome returns from injury for Kevin Gordon and Stephen Callen while both James Armstrong and Kieran Graham took their respective places on the bench. The team was: Harkess, Richardson, McGuinness, Preston, Forster, Hodgson(c) Gordon, Cook, Callen, J Butler, Martin: Subs: Stewart, Guthrie, T Butler, J Armstrong, Graham.

Goalscorers: Aycliffe: Campbell (2), SRCA: Callen, McGuinness, McBryde.

Colin Larkin, Liam McBryde and James Cassidy returned to the starting line-up after missing the mid-week League cup fixture against Esh Winning.

With five players on holiday and three on the injury list it was a miracle that we could field a team at all but on paper this looked a competitive team. There were a number of players still carrying niggling injuries and it was a test of their character that they were willing to play through the pain barrier.

Sunderland RCA 1 Seaham Red Star 1

The management team almost had a full squad to choose from for the match against near neighbours Seaham Red Star. Only McNab (back), Cassidy (Knee) and Bussey (Fractured Ankle) were on the injury list. The return of so many players made the task of selecting the team a little more difficult and following on from last weekend's fantastic performance against Newton Aycliffe the manager kept faith with the majority of that team, with the only change being the retuurn of captain Swansbury to replace Cassidy.

As the injury list shortens the team selection becomes more difficult. With Hodgson unavailable due to family matters and Davis unavailable due to work commitments, Armstrong and Callen were called into the starting eleven. The rest of the team had a very familiar look. There was also signs that Cassidy, McNab and Bussey would be fit in the near future.

The Washington team boasted no fewer than seven ex-SRCA players while the RCA team had six ex-Washington players in the squad. There was also the return to the club of ex-RCA manager Neil Hixon and his assistant Stephen "Buddy" Halliday.

RCA entertained fifth placed Marske United at Meadow Park on a wet and miserable day.

The two new signings were included in the squad with Carmichael starting in goal and Robinson on the bench. The management team also brought back Hodgson after missing the Washington match last week.

On the injury front Cassidy was declared fit while McNab aggravated his back in the warm up and was ruled out.

The management team had massive defensive problems ahead of today's FA Vase match with Preston and McGuinness cup tied and Swansbury suspended. To add to the problem McNab failed a late fitness test on his back and so a reshuffle was made with central midfielder Hodgson moving to centre back alongside Larkin and C Davis was drafted in at right back. Armstrong was recalled to play in the centre of midfiled with Charlton and McBryde partnered Butler up front.

So it was a much changed team which took to the field for this important match against a team who had already knocked out Holker Old Boys, Whitley Bay and Eccleshill United in previous rounds.

Before the match there was a minute's silence which was impeccably observed by everyone in the ground.

RCA made wholesale changes to the team for this Brooks Mileson League Cup tie against Second Division Northallerton Town. Into the team came Gordon, Preston, Swansbury and Cassidy replacing C Davis, Hodgson, Larkin and Butler.

The game kicked off in almost perfect conditions. Northallerton took advantage of the slope in the first half.
