Durham County Lomax Training Services Under 18s League

The warmest Saturday so far this season and a decent crowd enjoying the sunshine at Meadow Park.

Lumley were clearly out not to enjoy the weather though and undefeated so far this season they played with intent from the off.

After attacks at each end it was Lumley who made the early breakthrough with centre forward Arran Wearmouth hitting an effort from distance that took a wicked deflection that wrong footed Graeme Pickering in goal nestling in the corner of the net.

RCA though began playing some good possession football and it was no surprise when the equaliser came. Three passes were interchanged before a cross was sent into the box where Luke Olabode challenged the ball arriving to Lee Andrews who dispatched with aplomb from 15 yards 1 -1 (his 10th goal of the season). Half Time 1-1.

If the start in the first half wasn't a good one for RCA , lessons were not learned and Lumley quickley attacked again this time Liam Wintrip combining with Wearmouth who fed the ball to Kieran Day who broke through the RCA defence and slotted home.

Chances were again end-to-end and whilst RCA were shading possession Lumley were proving strong defensively. However after substitutions were made for RCA , Nathaniel Crinson proved an immediate threat down the right and from his cross a deserved equaliser was forced home by midfielder Ryan Mather.

On the 85th minute though the goal of the match came with Moon and Dunn exchanging passes at the back, before linking with Davies in the middle. The ball went out to the left where Stokoe played a pass to Deary who hit a great first time ball to Andrews. After the subsequent cross the ball was received at the edge of the box by James Alston who hit a screamer into the bottom right corner. 3-2 to RCA.

Lumley threw bodies forward and had two half chances to equalise but these were hit high and wide.

A very good win that keeps RCA in touch with the early leaders in what looks like a very competitive league this season.
