Durham County Lomax Training Services Under 18s League

Both teams were up for the first match of the Season in the Durham County Youth League on Saturday.

Keen tackles in the opening exchanges with chances created at both ends. After Witton wasted their best chance it was RCA who made the breakthrough when Kieran Stokoe fired in a corner that was met with a left foot half volley by last season's top scorer Lee Andrews. Minutes later midfielder Liam Cox found Andrews again who fed his attacking partner James Alston who drilled home to make it 2-0 at half time.

Witton made tactical changes but RCA upped the ante and when the ball was crossed in from the left Andrews hit home again with his right foot. On 60 minutes the points were secured when midfielder Jonny Davies hit a great corner from the left which Andrews met with a header to match. 4-0 and the perfect hat trick, left foot, right foot and off his noggin! Could things get better? Well most definitely for Andrews who hit his 4th on 65 mins before his 5th on 68 mins when he was played in via Cox and Davies when he rounded the keeper to cooly slot home.

On 70 minutes three subs were introduced for RCA and amazingly the same three were involved in the next goal, Luke Olabode playing a great ball from the back to Perri Agnew wide on the right. He cut in finding Nathaniel Crinson who scored at his second attempt. 7 - 0.

Witton Park to their credit rallied and got a deserved goal when a midfielder on the right cut in to finally get one past Pickering who had been very assured in the RCA goal.

A further corner was fired in from the right by Davies which was hit home by Olabode on 80 minutes. Crinson was then played in to get his second before the goal of the game when Liam Cox received a great long pass from Marc Moon, controlled before chipping the keeper exquisitively with his left foot from 15 yards. However minutes later Andrews got in again to score his 6th goal and claim the match ball.

A great start to the season, a record win and hopefully the sign of good things to come !
