Tyne and Wear LGV Summer Cup (Friendly)

Goalscorers: SRCA: None.  SRS: Bird.

RCA failed in their bid to win the final of the LGV Summer cup. A 5th minute strike from Seaham Red Star's Robbie Bird was enough to win a very competative match.

Both teams fielded understrength teams due to injuries, work commitments and holidays.

It was Red Star who started well and once they had scored they made it difficult for RCA to get back into the game.

The best chance of the first half fell to new signing Liam Hatch but his strike hit Newbrook on the back and went wide for a corner.

RCA put pressure on the Red Star defence in the second half and played some really attractive football without creating a clear cut chance until the last minute of the game when Callen sent in a good cross which Richardson could only head inches over the bar.

Well done to Seaham Red Star on their victory but the real winner were the charities which will receive a share of the £1400 raised at the games over the last week.
