Management changes at RCA The Barnes

Submitted by Ian Ferguson on Tuesday, 7 September 2010

Following last season's success under the stewardship of joint managers Ray Hartley and Glenn Moan, RCA The Barnes would like to announce the unfortunate resignation of both Ray and Glenn. Ray has decided that after a number of years at the helm that he needs a long overdue, and deserved rest, while Glenn, who took up the reins at the start of the season, now has his youngest son, Dom, playing on Sunday mornings and feels it only right that he goes along to support him in The Rusell Foster League.

RCA The Barnes would like to extend our gratitude to both Ray and Glenn for their sterling efforts, especially last season when they were responsible for RCA The Barnes' best ever year in winning two cup competitions and finishing runners up in the league. We wish both all the best for the future. They will always be welcome at Meadow Park or wherever RCA The Barnes play.

As a result of these resignations RCA The Barnes have had to look at replacing them with a new management team and we have been very fortunate to have secured the services of Gary 'Gee' Errington as team manager with immediate effect. Gary will be assisted in the immediate future by team captain Philip Hall, while further coaching/managerial assistance is sought. Gary has extensive knowledge of the local football scene and is currently also an assistant manager at Ryhope CW and a former stalwart of our near neighbours and local rivals Grangetown Florists, both as a player and on the management side. RCA The Barnes are looking forward to a long and successful liaison with Gee and he will take charge of his first game this coming Sunday when we take on newly promoted Farringdon Club FC at Silksworth Ski Slope Complex (top pitch opposite The Sportsman's Arms) in a league game.
