Sunderland RCA 1 Stokesley 0

Northern League

Saturday, 4 November 2006

This was a good battling performance by Sunderland RCA, following in the vein of recent weeks, but this time with some reward. The game was very even. RCA had the bulk of the chances, with Karl Jarvis hitting the post in the first half and Jon Butler striking the bar early in the second.

RCA lost Ian "Flash" Matthews to a hamstring strain half way through the first half, allowing Willie Crew to take his place. A good spell of pressure late in the second half saw Jon Butler get his rewards for a very solid display with a close range header from a Karl Jarvis cross.

RCA played out time comfortably enough to record a precious win!

Sunderland RCA 1 Washington 3

Northern League

Saturday, 18 November 2006

SRCA played their best football of the season and it was no surprise that we took the lead through defender Simon Andrews, firing home after Washington were attempting to clear from a corner.

SRCA were creating numerous chances and the Washington keeper was at his best in saving efforts from Butler in particular.

Washington equalised on the stroke of half-time against the run of play and this gutted the home supporters.

Worse was to follow after the re-start when we conceded a penalty which was converted in the 48th minute. Unbelievably SRCA conceded in the 51 st minute.

Washington tightened ship and the game fell away.

This was a very dour and physical game. 0-0 at half time, no goals looked on the cards tonight. Alas a deflected goal after 65 minutes saw SRCA chasing the game to salvage a point and then the sucker punch in the dying minutes.
